ZEN ALLADINA

PERFORMER, POET, ARTIST CONSULTANT

A South Asian writer, poet, and storyteller. Her work draws from (yet dreams beyond) history, reimagining the ancestral to contextualize the speculative.

About Zen Alladina

In 2022, she won Toronto Art Bar’s Discovery Night for emerging poets, which resolved her lifelong dilemma of “am I allowed to call myself a writer?” (If you’ve asked yourself this question, the answer is already yes.) Since then, her poetry and speculative fiction have appeared in ROOM Magazine, Asian American Writers’ Workshop, Soap Box Press, UKAI Projects, Solarpunk Magazine, and more. Her spoken word sets include both pre-written and live improv poetry, inspired by words from the audience.

She is a co-developer of the Augmented-Reality Poetry series ‘const(i.e.)llations’ alongside artist Riya Razdan, exhibited at Nuit Blanche Toronto, Big on Bloor Festival, and more. A trained arts facilitator and tea sommelier, she has led ‘Tea Stories’ workshops at Reset Centre, East End Arts and Toronto Metropolitan University — prompting pre-colonial reimagination of our (hi)stories while collectively sharing tea.
